Children will be who they want to be. Sylvia has decided she wants to be a police officer when she grows up, so I left work early yesterday and we visited the police station. Here she is, asking me if I need to be taken to jail. A lot of times it’s cute, but sometimes I wish she was more interested in something like horses or even firefighters. I remember though as a little kid being fascinated with WWII through the Bill Mauldin comics. I guess that is the difficult part of parenting: realizing that your kids are their own people and they are bound to inherit some of your own flaws.
